The purpose of the length of service awards program is to provide service awards to volunteer and call firefighters and emergency medical personnel of volunteer municipal groups as organized under RSA 154:1, I(a)-

(c). This program shall provide an income after a period of vesting to those that meet the yearly certification criteria and who have made periodic payments into the program's plan. This program includes a deferred compensation plan. Contributions shall be made by the municipality and the individual into the plan. Participation in the plan is voluntary, and must be approved by each local legislative body.
