1.The provision of a recognized animal service does not constitute the practice of
veterinary medicine if provided by an individual who is not a veterinarian or veterinary
technician and not otherwise excepted from the practice of veterinary medicine under
section 43-29-13.
2.For purposes of this section, "recognized animal service" means:
a.Grooming;
b.Training or conditioning;
c.Horseshoeing or farrier work;
d.Massage therapy or acupressure;
e.Microchip implantation; and
f.An accepted livestock management practice.
3.This section does not permit an individual who is not a veterinarian to diagnose,
prescribe, or perform surgical procedures, other than surgical procedures considered
to be an accepted livestock management practice.
