No operator's license may be returned to an individual unless that person files with the director a verified statement confirming the person's insurance coverages as required by section 39-08-20. The verified statement must include the name of the insurance carrier and the effective dates of the policy. Upon the request of the director, the insurance carrier will verify the information contained in the verified statement. The director shall suspend the operator's license of any person upon receiving satisfactory evidence that the verified statement contains false or fraudulent information. The period of suspension may not exceed six months. Any suspension must be initiated under section 39-06-33.
