§ 69-14-102 — Application -- Definition

69-14-102 . Application -- definition.

(1)In accordance with the commission's authority pursuant to 69-14-111 , this chapter applies to all persons, firms, or companies, incorporated or otherwise, that do business as common carriers on any of the lines of railroad in this state.
(2)As used in this chapter, "railroad" means a corporation, company, or individual owning or operating a railroad in whole or in part in this state. The term also includes express companies, sleeping-car companies, and a rail authority established under Title 7, chapter 14, part 16.
