(a)Each school participating in the federal school lunch program shall electronically send to the Department of Education the eligibility information on each child who is eligible for the free and reduced-price meals program, unless the child's parent or legal guardian after being notified of the potential disclosure of this information for the limited purpose stated in paragraph (b) elects not to have the information disclosed.
(b)Pursuant to United States Code, title 42, section 1758(b)(6)(A), the Department of Education shall enter into an agreement with the Department of Human Services to share the eligibility information provided by each school in paragraph (a) for the limited purpose of identifying children who may be eligible for medical assistance or MinnesotaCare.
