§511. Declaration of policy It is declared to be the policy of this state to foster commerce in this state by encouraging effective competition among banking institutions and to accomplish these objectives by permitting bank holding companies to own or control one or more banking institutions in Louisiana. It is further declared that a bank holding company is intended to contribute to the overall safety and soundness of its subsidiary banks and that bank holding companies as a whole should contribute to the health of the Louisiana banking industry.
