§ 46:449 — Family responsibility program

§449. Family responsibility program A. For purposes of this Section, the following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
(1)"Department" shall mean the Louisiana Department of Health.
(2)"Recipient" shall mean any person receiving intermediate or skilled nursing care
in the state of Louisiana and whose income and resources are insufficient to meet the costs
of such care.
B. The department is hereby authorized to develop and implement a program of
voluntary family responsibility which will recognize those alimentary obligations created by
Civil Code Art. 229 et seq.
C. The department is authorized to enter into written agreements with the responsible
relatives of recipients whereby such responsible relatives voluntarily agree to contribute
