Text

A. A vehicle may be impounded by an employee of the commission in the course of and as part of a highway inspection if:

(1)The vehicle is involved in a current infraction and the offending person cannot post the appropriate appearance bond before the close of the working day; or
(2)To enforce collection of a commission monetary sanction or penalty that has become final upon a person determined by the commission to have committed an act that is a violation of this Chapter or of regulations promulgated by the commission. In the event of such impoundment, the commission shall make every reasonable effort to preserve the vehicle and its cargo; however, in no event shall the commission or the state be liable for the loss of said vehicle and cargo, except for intentional acts or acts of neg
