§1301. Statement of purpose In order to promote the use of renewable energy in Louisiana, it is hereby declared in the public interest to encourage participation of the private sector in the development of a production system for alcohol fuels, to reduce the reliance of the citizens of Louisiana and of the United States on foreign sources of energy; to continue Louisiana's role as a major producer of energy for the nation; to provide a clean, efficient, and renewable energy source; to assist in maintaining Louisiana's sugar cane industry as a viable producer of sugar; to encourage the utilization of sugar cane and other agricultural commodities for energy purposes.
