§57. Reduction of compensation while holding office or employment prohibited
A.The compensation of any registrar, chief deputy, or other
unclassified employee which is payable in accordance with the provisions of
R.S. 18:55 and 59 shall not be reduced while he holds his office or position,
or as a result of promotion.
B.Subsequent to the 1990 federal decennial census, if the most recent
population figures referred to in R.S. 18:55(A) and 59(B) and (C) decrease
from the prior population figures so as to change the population range of the
parish, the registrar of voters, chief deputy, and confidential assistant shall be
compensated at the population range for such prior parish population while
