A.In addition to and notwithstanding the provisions of any other law, and particularly R.S. 11:3521, any person who was a member of the police pension and relief fund for the city of Alexandria shall be entitled to service credit in the Municipal Police Employees' Retirement System for all active service in the military service of the United States for up to but not in excess of three years of such active military service whether rendered prior to or after commencement of employment in the police department. The purchase of military service credit provided for in this Section shall not be allowed unless the city of Alexandria pays into the Municipal Police Employees' Retirement System an amount equal to the current employer and employee contributions based upon the member's average base p
