(a)The Indiana department of transportation shall participate in the proceedings and in the cost of any improvements made pursuant to the proceedings provided for by this chapter if any improvements involve a highway which is part of the state highway system or a street or highway selected by the Indiana department of transportation as a route of a highway in the state highway system.
(b)If the Indiana department of transportation participates in any proceedings as set out in this chapter and in the cost of improvements made pursuant to the proceedings, the county in which the city is located shall also participate in the proceedings and in the cost of any improvements that are made pursuant to the proceedings.
