After a decision, order, or requirement has been made by the department in any proceeding under this chapter, any party to the proceeding may apply to the department for reconsideration or rehearing of the decision, order, or requirement, or of any matter determined in the decision, order, or requirement. The department may grant reconsideration or rehearing if there is sufficient reason in the decision, order, or requirement. Applications for reconsideration or rehearing are governed by rules prescribed by the department. If after reconsideration or rehearing, it appears that the original decision, order, or requirement is in any respect unjust and unwarranted, the department may change or modify the decision, order, or requirement accordingly.
