§ 13-11-2-249 — "Waste reduction"
Indiana·Art. 11 DEFINITIONS
(a)"Waste reduction", for purposes of
environmental management laws except as provided in subsection (b),
means a process that leads to the prevention of the creation of waste.
(b)"Waste reduction", for purposes of IC 13-22-11, means the use
of one (1) or more industrial practices that reduce, eliminate, or avoid
the generation of hazardous waste to reduce risks to human health and
to the environment. The term does not include the following:
(1)Recycling of a hazardous waste, except for recycling that is an
integral part of the industrial operation that generated the
hazardous waste.
(2)An act that concentrates a hazardous waste to reduce the
volume of the hazardous waste.
(3)A dilution of a hazardous waste to reduce the hazardous
characteristics of the hazardous waste.
