§ 15-65 — Referendum; order concerning results

(a) Each voter within the territory proposed to be annexed and each voter within the district has the right to cast a ballot. (b) If a majority of the votes cast upon the question in the district, and also a majority of the votes cast upon the question in the territory to be annexed, are in favor of the proposition, the entire territory may be annexed. Where there are 2 or more precincts in the territory proposed to be annexed, however, if a majority of the votes cast upon the question by those voting in the district, and also a majority of the votes cast upon the question by those voting in any contiguous precinct in the territory proposed to be annexed, are in favor of the proposition, the precinct so voting shall be annexed. (c) The proposition shall be in substantially the following form: Shall (description of territory) be annexed to (name of public library district), (location), Illinois? (d) The judge assigned to the matter shall enter an order setting forth the results of the election based upon the certificate filed with the judge by the election authority, and the order shall become a part of the records of the court. Where more than one county is involved in the election, a copy of the original petition, the order calling for the election, and the order setting forth the election results shall be filed by the election authority in the circuit court of each county affected or involved.
