§ 5-32002 — Definitions

In this Division the following terms have the meanings ascribed to them unless the context indicates otherwise: "Local improvements" means the constructing, installing, improving or extending of storm sewers, sanitary sewers or water mains; the improving, widening, extending or repairing of any street, highway, road, boulevard, alley, sidewalk or other public way; the constructing, installing or repairing of curbs, gutters, street lights and all necessary appurtenances thereto; or any combination thereof, within or abutting on any platted subdivision either prior to or after any structures are placed within such platted subdivision. "Platted subdivision" is any described tract of land which has been divided into 2 or more lots or parcels which involved the creation of a new street and which has been recorded. "County" means any county in this State which is not a home rule unit. "Attorney" means the attorney employed by the county committee of local improvements to furnish the necessary legal services in connection with any local improvement to be constructed under this Division. "Engineer" means the engineer employed by the county committee of local improvements to prepare the necessary plans, estimates and specifications, and supervise construction of any local improvement to be constructed under this Division. "Committee" means the Committee of Local Improvements created by this Division.
