§ 6-10 — Nominating petition

The nomination of candidates for members of the regional board of school trustees in single county or multi-county educational service regions shall be made by a petition filed with the county clerk, in the case of a single county region, and, in the case of multi-county regions with the State Board of Elections and signed by at least 50 voters qualified to vote at the election. In addition to the requirements of the general election law, the petition shall specify the county and township (or road district) of the candidate's residence. Nomination papers filed under this Section are not valid unless the candidate named therein files with the county clerk or State Board of Elections a statement of economic interests as required by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Such receipt shall be so filed either previously during the calendar year in which his nomination papers were filed or within the period for the filing of nomination papers in accordance with the general election law. A candidate for membership on the regional board of school trustees, who has petitioned for nomination to fill a full term and to fill a vacant term to be voted upon at the same election, must withdraw his or her petition for nomination to the regional board of school trustees from either the full term or the vacant term by written declaration, within the time and in the manner provided by the general election law.
