§ 5-500 — Emergency funding eligibility

(a) The State Board of Education shall classify destruction or disrepair of a public school as an emergency that is eligible for emergency funding if the public school (i) does not otherwise meet the minimum enrollment requirements to be eligible for emergency funding, (ii) has a majority-minority student population, and (iii) is located within a municipality with a population of less than 5,000 outside of Cook County and the destruction or disrepair occurred during the time in which proclamations issued by the Governor during the 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022 school years declaring a disaster due to a public health emergency pursuant to Section 7 of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act were in effect. (b) Notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary, any school district that receives funding pursuant to subsection (a) is exempt from providing local matching funds.
