Text
The department shall develop and implement a program for the acquisition of wetlands
and conservation easements on and around wetlands that result from the closure or change
in use of agricultural drainage wells upon implementation of the programs specified in
section 460.302 to eliminate groundwater contamination caused by the use of agricultural
drainage wells. The program shall be coordinated with the department of agriculture
and land stewardship. The department may use moneys appropriated for this purpose
from the agriculture management account of the groundwater protection fund created in
section 455E.11 in addition to other moneys available for wetland acquisition, protection,
development, and management.
