Text
1.“Adult” means a person eighteen years of age or older or a person declared to be
emancipated by a court of competent jurisdiction.
2.“Conservator” means a person appointed by a court to have custody and control of the
property of a minor.
3.“Court” means the juvenile court established under section 602.7101.
4.“Demonstrated lack of consistent parental participation” means the refusal of a parent
to comply with duties and responsibilities imposed upon a parent by the parent-child
relationship, including but not limited to providing the minor with necessary food, clothing,

shelter, health care, education, and other care and supervision necessary for the minor’s
physical, mental, and emotional health and development.
