(a)A package store permit issued under subsection (b) of section 30-20 may be renewed by the person to whom such permit was issued or by any person who (1) is a transferee or purchaser of premises operating under a package store permit issued under subsection (b) of section 30-20, and (2) meets the requirements of this chapter concerning eligibility for a liquor permit. Commencing June 8, 1986, the Department of Consumer Protection may issue one package store permit under subsection (b) of section 30-20 for every twenty-five hundred residents of a town as determined by the most recently completed decennial census.
