§ 35-50-103 — Definitions
As used in this article 50, unless the context otherwise requires:
(1)Accredited veterinarian means a veterinarian approved by the United
States department of agriculture in accordance with 9 CFR 161, as may be amended
from time to time.
(2)Commission means the state agricultural commission.
(3)Commissioner means the commissioner of agriculture.
(4)Department means the department of agriculture.
(5)Hold means a temporary order issued by the state veterinarian when an
infectious or contagious disease is suspected in livestock to isolate any specific
livestock, premises, county, district, or section of the state; restrict the movement
of livestock; and specify sanitary measures, pending completion of testing.
