(1)Retail food
establishments are encouraged to donate or resell safe food to individuals, to
families, or to local nonprofit organizations that distribute food to individuals or
families, including by:
(a)Chilling or freezing safe food to allow individuals receiving assistance
from the supplemental nutrition assistance program established in part 3 of article
2 of title 26 to purchase prepared meals at discounted prices; and
(b)Attempting to sell or donate safe food through online applications that
are dedicated to such purpose.
