Emergency medical service
providers employed or utilized in connection with an ambulance service shall meet
the qualifications established by the board by rule in order to be certified or
licensed. For ambulance drivers, the minimum requirements include the possession
of a valid driver's license and other requirements established by the board by rule
under section 25-3.5-315. For any person responsible for providing direct
emergency medical care and treatment to patients transported in an ambulance,
the minimum requirement is possession of an emergency medical service provider
certificate or license issued by the department. In the case of an emergency in an
