(1)The department of public
health and environment is designated as the sole agency for carrying out the
purposes of the federal Hospital Survey and Construction Act, Public Law 79-725
of the 79th Congress of the United States, approved August 13, 1946, or any
amendments thereto, and the successor provisions thereof of Public Law 93-641,
and is authorized to formulate, submit, and administer a state plan for carrying out
the provisions thereof and to accept on behalf of the state any funds allotted to the
state under the provision of the said federal acts, or any amendments thereto. In
carrying out the purposes of this section, the department of public health and
environment is authorized to make such reports as may be required by the said
federal acts, or any amendments thereto
