Text

(1)The board may order an emergency approval to the applicant pending a final decision in the claim if it appears to the board, prior to taking action upon the claim, that undue hardship will result to the applicant if immediate payment is not made. Approvals pursuant to this section are intended to cover expenses incurred by crime victims in meeting their immediate short-term needs. The amount of an approval pursuant to this section must not exceed the amount set forth in the board's policies regarding emergency approvals and must be deducted from any final approval made as a result of the claim.
(2)If the amount of an emergency approval exceeds the sum the board would have approved pursuant to this part 1, such excess must be repaid by the recipient.
