§ 24-37-201 — State planning - responsibilities

(1) The office of state planning
and budgeting shall:

(a) Repealed.

(b) Stimulate and encourage state agencies to engage in long-range and
short-range planning in their respective areas of responsibility with the assistance
of the office of the state architect;

(c) Review and coordinate the planning efforts of state agencies, including
the relationship of such efforts with federal and local governmental programs;

(d) Furnish the office of the state architect and the state agencies with data,
projections, and other technical assistance needed to discharge the state agencies'
planning responsibilities and coordinate the exchange of relevant reports, data, and
projections among state agencies;

(e) From time to time, conduct public hearings to encourage maximum public
understanding and agreement as to factual data and assumptions upon which
projections and analyses are based and also to receive suggestions as to types of
projections and analyses that are needed;

(f) Participate in comprehensive interstate planning and other activities
related thereto;

(g) Make studies and inquiries relevant to state planning of the resources of
the state and of the problems of agriculture, industry, and commerce, as well as
population and urban growth, local government, and related matters affecting the
development of the state;

(h) Prepare, and from time to time revise, an inventory, in collaboration with
the appropriate state and federal agencies, of the public and private natural
resources, of major public and private works, and of other facilities and information
which are deemed of importance in planning for the development of the state, not
pertaining to cartography;

(i) Supply to the public available information developed pursuant to this
subsection (1);

(j) Accept and receive grants and services relevant to state planning from
the federal government, other state agencies, local governments, and private and
civic sources;

(k) Act as reviewing authority or otherwise provide cooperative services
under any federal-state planning programs.

(2) The office of state planning and budgeting shall exercise care so as not
to duplicate the projections from data of state agencies and nonstate agencies and
shall utilize such projections to the maximum extent possible.
