(a)Within a reasonable time after an application to practice the science of embalming or to engage in the business of funeral directing is filed with the State Board of Embalmers, Funeral Directors, Cemeteries, and Burial Services, the board shall give the applicant a written examination to test the applicant's competency to act as an embalmer or a funeral director, or both.
(b)If on examination the board finds that an applicant possesses a knowledge of funeral directing or the science of embalming, sanitation, and disinfection, or both, and meets the qualifications prescribed in this subchapter, the board shall issue the applicant a certificate authorizing him or her to engage in the business of funeral directing or to practice the science of embalming, or both, if the applicant has sub
