There is not necessarily a conflict between the statute (Act 456 of 1979) and the Canons of Judicial Ethics (Canon 3 A(7)) as long as the trial judge in exercising his authority under the statute complies with the requirement of the Canons which he is obligated to do until the Canon is amended.
