Text
(a)Every county sheriff as ex officio county collector
shall have and keep in his office a cash book in which shall be
entered all monies paid him by virtue of his office, together
with the date of payment, the name of the person paying the same
and the purpose for which it was paid. Each cash book shall at
all reasonable hours of the day be open to the inspection and
examination of all persons desiring to examine it.
(b)Upon receiving any money the sheriff shall issue a
receipt to the person paying the same, entering on the receipt
the same information required to be entered in the cash book.
(c)Any county sheriff or deputy who fails to perform the
duties specified in subsections (a) and (b) of this section or
who fails to perform any other duties required by law is guilty
of a misdeme
