Text

(1)(1)(a) As used in this section:
(1)(a)(i) "Animal care facility" means an animal rescue, animal sanctuary, or animal shelter.
(1)(a)(ii) "Animal rescue" means a person that:
(1)(a)(ii)(A) accepts companion animals for the purpose of finding a permanent home for each companion animal;
(1)(a)(ii)(B) does not maintain a central facility for keeping companion animals; and
(1)(a)(ii)(C) uses a system of temporarily fostering the companion animals in a private residence or boarding facility.
(1)(a)(iii) "Animal sanctuary" means a nonprofit entity, other than a government entity, that:
(1)(a)(iii)(A) harbors companion animals; and
(1)(a)(iii)(B) is used exclusively for the purpose of indefinitely caring for, rehabilitating, or housing companion animals.
