Text

(1)Members of the state board shall be nominated and elected as provided in Title 20A, Chapter 14, Nomination and Election of State and Local School Boards.
(2)The state board shall elect from its members a chair, and at least one vice chair, but no more than three vice chairs, every other year at a meeting held any time between November 15 and January 15.
(3)(3)(a) If the election of officers is held subsequent to the election of a new member of the state board, but prior to the time that the new member takes office, the new member shall assume the position of the outgoing member for purposes of the election of officers.
(3)(b) In all other matters the outgoing member shall retain the full authority of the office until replaced as provided by law.
