Sec. 848.055. EXCEPTIONS.
(a)An organization is not required to obtain a certificate of authority under this chapter if the organization holds an appropriate certificate of authority issued under another chapter of this code.
(b)A person is not required to obtain a certificate of authority under this chapter to the extent that the person is:
(1)a physician engaged in the delivery of medical care; or
(2)a health care provider engaged in the delivery of health care services other than medical care as part of a health maintenance organization delivery network.
(c)A medical school, medical and dental unit, or health science center as described by Section 61.003 , 61.501 , or 74.601 , Education Code, is not required to obtain a certificate of authority under this chapter to the extent that
