Sec. 852.104. TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP.

(a)Except as otherwise provided by this section, a person terminates membership in the retirement system by:
(1)death;
(2)retirement;
(3)withdrawal of all of the person's contributions while the person is absent from service; or
(4)absence from service for more than 60 consecutive months.
(b)A member of the retirement system is not absent from service during periods of military or war-related service for which the member is allowed credited service under Section 853.501 .
(c)If a member of the retirement system is an employee of a participating department of a municipality that, as provided by this subtitle, allows a person to terminate employment and remain eligible for retirement after accumulating a specified amount of credited service, an
