§ 8-7-311 — Appointment of budget officer, director and clerical personnel - Compensation - Practice of law prohibited - Employment of attorney

(a) The executive director of the district attorneys general conference shall, subject to the approval of the duly elected officers of the district attorneys general conference, appoint a budget officer and a director and such other assistants and clerical personnel as are necessary to enable the executive director to perform the duties of the executive director's office. (b) Compensation for other assistants and clerical personnel shall be fixed by the executive director with the approval of the executive committee of the district attorneys general conference. (c) (1) During their terms of office or employment, neither the executive director nor any full-time assistant or employee shall directly or indirectly engage in the practice of law in any of the courts in this state. (2) If the executive director employs an attorney as a part-time employee, such employee shall not engage in the defense of criminal cases if such employee's duties will, at the time of employment, involve or in the future may involve: (A) Substantial interaction with district attorneys general, their assistants, or other employees of the executive director; or (B) The prosecution of criminal cases either as a part-time assistant district attorney general or a district attorney general pro tempore.
