(a)The comptroller of the treasury may require all persons prior to employment with such office to:
(1)Agree to the release of all investigative records to the comptroller of the treasury for the purpose of verifying the accuracy of criminal violation information contained on an employment application; and (2) Supply a fingerprint sample and submit to a criminal history records check to be conducted by the Tennessee bureau of investigation. In addition, to the extent permitted by federal law, and at the discretion of the comptroller of the treasury, a check of such prints may be made against records maintained by the federal bureau of investigation.
