Text

(a)Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, all former, present and future employees of the University of Tennessee extension, holding joint appointments with the United States department of agriculture, shall be eligible for a retirement benefit based solely on longevity pay which is or was received under § 8-23-206 ; provided, that credit has not been granted under the federal civil service retirement plan for such longevity pay. Before the commencement of any such retirement benefit, the former employee must make a lump sum payment equal to the contributions such former employee would have made on longevity pay had it been creditable in the federal civil service retirement plan, plus interest as provided by § 8-37-214 .
