Text

(a)The inmates shall be worked within the walls of the prison, except when otherwise provided in this code.
(b)(1) The commissioner of correction, with the approval of the governor when it appears to be in the best interests of this state, is authorized to permit inmates to work at other places in this state other than within the walls of the prison. Any other work performed by the inmates shall be in connection with the duties and functions of the various departments, commissions and divisions of state, municipal and county governments and upon property owned or leased to the state of Tennessee or its political subdivisions.
