§ 44-55-2320 — Definitions.

As used in this article: (1) "Board" means the Board of Health and Environmental Control. (2) "Director" means the director of the department or his authorized agent. (3) "Department" means the Department of Health and Environmental Control. (4) "Person" means an individual, public or private corporation, political subdivision, governmental agency, municipality, industry, copartnership, association, firm, trust, estate, or any other legal entity. "Person" does not mean a church, synagogue, or religious organization. (5) "Public swimming pool" means an artificial structure used to impound water to provide for such recreational uses as bathing, swimming, diving, wading, spraying, sliding, floating, rafting, or other similar usage which is not built in connection with a single family residence and the use of which is not confined to the family of the residence and its private guests, or which is not owned, constructed, operated, or maintained by a church, synagogue, or religious organization.
