(A)The board of directors is the governing board of the authority. The board consists of seven voting directors appointed as follows:
(1)six members who reside in or represent all or some portion of the counties designated as distressed or least developed pursuant to Section 12-6-3360 for 2009 or a county designated as such at the time of appointment; one appointed by the President of the Senate, one appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, one appointed by the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, one appointed by the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and two appointed by the Governor. HISTORY: 2010 Act No. 171, SECTION 1, eff May 26, 2010; 2012 Act No. 149, SECTION 1, eff April 23, 2012; 2014 Act No. 195 (S.812), SECTION 1, eff June 2, 2014; 2019 Act No. 1 (S.2), SECTION 46, eff January 31, 2019. Effect of Amendment The 2012 amendment rewrote item (1); and in item (2) substituted "Members not serving ex officio" for "Appointed members" in the first sentence, and added a comma after "without compensation" in the third sentence. 2014 Act No. 195, SECTION 1, in subsection (1), inserted "or a county designated as such at the time of appointment". 2019 Act No. 1, SECTION 46, inserted the (A) and (B) designators; in (A)(1), substituted "President of the Senate" for "President Pro Tempore of the Senate" in two places; and in (B), in the first sentence, substituted "President of the Senate" for "President Pro Tempore of the Senate".
