In addition to the powers and duties provided for in this chapter, the board also has those powers and duties as set forth in Section 40-1-70. A member of the board, or its committees or employees, may not be liable for acts performed in the course of their official duties, except when gross negligence is shown and proven in a court of competent jurisdiction in this State.
