Beginning with the 2010 assessment administration, the Department of Education is directed to provide assessment results annually on individual students and schools by August first, except when assessments are being updated and new achievement standards are being set, in a manner and format that is easily understood by parents and the public. In addition, the school assessment results must be presented in a format easily understood by the faculty and in a manner that is useful for curriculum review and instructional improvement. The department is to provide longitudinally matched student data from the standards-based assessments and include information on the performance of subgroups of students within the school. HISTORY: 1998 Act No. 400, SECTION 2; 2003 Act No. 89, SECTION 5, eff July 23, 2003; 2006 Act No. 254, SECTION 7, eff March 24, 2006; 2008 Act No. 282, SECTION 1, eff June 5, 2008; 2017 Act No. 94 (H.3969), SECTION 10, eff June 10, 2017. Effect of Amendment The 2003 amendment substituted "seven" for "four" preceding "years" in the second sentence. The 2006 amendment designated subsection (A) and added subsection (B) relating to analysis of assessment results. The 2008 amendment renumbered this section from SECTION 59-18-370 and in the first sentence, added "Beginning with the 2010 assessment administration," and "by August first,". 2017 Act No. 94, SECTION 10, inserted "except when assessments are being updated and new achievement standards are being set,", and made a nonsubstantive change.
