§ 9-26-2. Duty to execute and return writs.
Every officer to whom a writ of execution or other judicial writ shall be lawfully
            issued shall execute the mandates therein contained as commanded, and shall make returns
            of his or her doings thereon. If he or she is unable to execute the mandates, he or
            she shall set forth the reason of his or her failure in his or her return.
