§ 9-2-17. Joinder of registered owner and operator of motor vehicle as defendants in action
               for negligence.
A plaintiff may join the registered owner and operator of a motor vehicle in an action
            to recover damages for negligence. Nothing herein shall be deemed to deprive the owner
            or operator of any defense he or she may have.
