§ 8-2-30. Petition for change of venue.
Applications for the removal of any civil action, suit, or proceeding, as provided
            in § 8-2-29, shall be by petition setting forth the cause or reasons therefor, which petition
            shall be filed in the office of the clerk of the superior court for the county where
            the action, suit, or proceeding is pending, and a copy thereof served on the adverse
            party, or on his or her attorney of record, within ten (10) days after the filing
            of the petition; and no such petition in any civil cause shall be heard until the
            expiration of five (5) days after the service of the copy, unless by agreement of
            the parties.
