§ 36-10-33. Penalty for fraudulent claim or statement.

Every person who knowingly or willfully makes, presents, or in anyway procures the making or presentation of any false or fraudulent affidavit or affirmation concerning any claim for pension or payment thereof, shall, in every case, forfeit a sum not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), in addition to the repayment of any and all money received from the retirement system because of a false or fraudulent claim or statement, with interest, at the rate of twelve percent (12%) per annum, to be sued and recovered by and in the name of the retirement board of the retirement system, an
