§ 12-19-25. Warrant for commitment to institutions.

Whenever any person shall be sentenced to imprisonment, the clerk of the court passing the sentence shall immediately issue a warrant, under the seal of the court, directed to the division of sheriffs, reciting the sentence and requiring a deputy sheriff to take the person and deliver to the warden of the adult correctional institutions and the warden to receive the person into his or her custody and safely keep him or her in the institutions during the term specified in the sentence, and the warrant shall constitute the officer charged with it, while he or she has it in his or her poss
