§ 10-9-27. Transfer or concealment of prisoner with intent to avoid writ.
Every person who shall have in custody or under his or her power any person entitled
            to any writ of habeas corpus, whether any writ has issued or not, and who shall, with
            intent to elude the service of a writ of habeas corpus or to avoid the effect of a
            writ of habeas corpus, transfer the prisoner to the custody, or place him or her under
            the power or control, of any other person, or conceal him or her, or change the place
            of his or her confinement, shall forfeit and pay to the party aggrieved thereby one
            thousand dollars ($1,000).
