Parking. Zoning regulations are hereby defined as regulations restricting the height, number of stories and size of buildings, the percentage of lots that may be occupied, the size of yards, courts, and other open spaces, the density of population, the location and use of buildings, structures and land, for trade, industry, residence, recreation, or other purposes. For the purpose of such zoning regulations, the territory of the District may be divided into subdistricts of such number, shape and area as may be deemed best suited to carry out the purpose of this act and shall be shown upon the zoning plan; and within such subdistricts, the erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, or use of buildings, structures, or land may be regulated and restricted.
