Should a member of the state highway patrol retirement system cease to be an employee of the state highway patrol, for any reason, except retirement or death, the member shall thereupon cease to be a member of the retirement system. A member who is paid the member's accumulated contributions under section5505.19of the Revised Code shall forfeit the member's total service credit at that time. Should the former member return to the employ of the state highway patrol, the former member shall again become a member. When said re-employment occurs the total service credit last forfeited by the member shall be restored to the member's credit, provided the member pays into the employees' savings fund the amount, if any, the member withdrew therefrom, together with such compound interest as the boa
